“Pandora’s Box” was created by first wet felting wool and silk fibers on a base of white wool batting. After drying, I needle felted and embroidered the painting for added texture and dimension. Finally, I layered on a strand of a special silk yarn.
The felt is approx. 11" x 11” and is framed in a 13” x 13” white frame. I remove the glass fronts from my paintings, as I believe part of the experience is having direct access to the rich textures. It is recommended that the paintings be hung out of direct sunlight for greatest protection and longevity. Wool is naturally water-resistant, mould and mildew resistant and antibacterial.
